Symphony Commerce, a leader in B2B digital commerce, has been officially shortlisted for the Investment Award at the North West Business of the Year Awards 2025

Organised by TheBusinessDesk.com, the awards celebrate the businesses driving innovation, growth, and economic impact across the North West.

This nomination recognises Symphony’s significant transformation over the past 18 months, fuelled by a £2 million investment round (part of a total £6 million raised), a strategic leadership expansion, and the development of cutting-edge technologies such as Fortis - a smart pricing and discount management engine designed for the complexities of B2B commerce.

Founded in 2015 as Shopblocks and rebranded in 2023 to reflect its ambitious new vision, Symphony Commerce has rapidly evolved from a B2C-focused platform into a powerful B2B digital commerce ecosystem. Headquartered in Stockport, the company now supports over 2,000 global customers, including Toshiba, Daisy Telecom, Giacom and Tower Housewares.

“Our growth journey over the past 18 months has been driven by our belief that complex problems deserve bespoke solutions,” said Matt Smith, CEO of Symphony Commerce. “This nomination reflects the strength of our team, the trust of our investors, and the growing impact Symphony is having in the B2B commerce space - not just locally, but globally.”

The £2m investment has enabled Symphony to:

  • Appoint a new CEO and CFO, bringing in high-calibre leadership with experience in financial strategy, international growth, and digital transformation;

  • Launch Fortis, an innovation that allows businesses to manage sophisticated pricing and discounting strategies at scale;

  • Expand platform capabilities to support deep ERP integrations, automated workflows, and personalised buyer experiences;

  • Drive revenue growth, nearly doubling annual recurring revenue (ARR) with a target to triple that over the next three years.

“Our platform is built for the real-world challenges of B2B,” said Kevin Jones, Founder and CTO. “Our focus is not on simplifying ecommerce - but on embracing complexity to unlock real, measurable growth for our customers.”

Symphony’s platform allows wholesalers, distributors, and manufacturers to build sophisticated digital commerce ecosystems tailored to their industry-specific needs - from online storefronts and ordering portals to sales enablement tools and customer-specific pricing strategies.

Beyond technology, the company’s mission is rooted in partnership. Symphony works closely with its clients to understand their operations and co-create digital solutions that scale with their ambitions.

As a proud Greater Manchester business, Symphony Commerce also contributes to the region’s growing reputation as a thriving tech and innovation hub.

“Being shortlisted for an award that shines a spotlight on regional investment and impact means a lot to us,” added Smith. “We’re committed to growing in the North West, building talent here, and helping businesses in the region and beyond transform the way they trade online.”

The North West Business of the Year Awards will take place on 15 October at the Midland Hotel, Manchester, where the winners will be announced at a high-profile black-tie ceremony. Each shortlisted company took part in a rigorous judging process involving site visits and interviews with the panel in the run-up to the event.
