How to manage shared addresses and types
If your shop is using the Business Customers plugin, you can manage multiple addresses for delivery and billing. Managing addresses requires the Manage Delivery Addresses or Manage Billing Addresses permission – without these permissions, address fields at checkout are read‑only and you will only be able to select existing addresses.
Address management permissions
Two separate permissions control whether a user can edit addresses:
-
Manage Billing Addresses: Allows you to add, edit and delete billing addresses. Without it, billing addresses are read‑only and you can only select a existing or shared address at checkout.
-
Manage Delivery Addresses: Allows you to add, edit and delete delivery addresses. Without it, delivery addresses are read‑only and you cannot add new ones.
Both permissions are enabled by default for existing users. Turning them off will hide the Add, Edit and Delete buttons in the My Account → Addresses area, and the fields at checkout will be locked.
Adding a new address
To add an address for yourself or your company:
-
Navigate to My Account → Addresses and click Add Address.

-
Enter the contact and address details (e.g. name, street, city, postal code, country).
-
Choose the Address Type:
-
Delivery – the address can only be selected for delivery.
-
Billing – the address can only be used for billing.
-
Any – the address can be used for both delivery and billing.
At checkout, only addresses of the relevant type are displayed: billing addresses and Any addresses are available when entering your billing details, and delivery addresses and Any addresses are available on the delivery step.
-
-
Decide whether to make the address shared. Select Yes on “Make this address visible to all members of your company” to make the address available to all users in your company. Leave it off to keep the address personal – it will only be visible to you.
-
Tick Use as default delivery address or Use as default billing address to make the address your default. Defaults apply only to your account and do not affect other users.
You can have one default delivery address and one default billing address. Defaults are used automatically at checkout. Setting an address as default affects only your account – other users in your company can choose their own defaults. A shared address can be set as your default, while it remains shared and does not become anyone else’s default.
Using addresses at checkout
During the checkout process you can choose from personal and shared addresses:
-
Delivery step: The delivery address dropdown shows your personal delivery addresses, personal Any addresses, and any shared addresses marked as Delivery or Any. If you select a Delivery‑only address, the option to use the same address for billing will be disabled, and you will need to select a separate billing address on the next step.
-
Billing step: The billing address dropdown lists your personal billing addresses, personal Any addresses, and shared addresses marked as Billing or Any. If you selected an Any type address on the delivery step, you can tick My billing address is the same as my delivery address to reuse it.
Shared addresses appear as read‑only on the checkout forms. If a shared address needs correcting, you or another user with the Manage Delivery/Billing permissions must edit it in My Account → Addresses. Once an address is updated in My Account, the checkout page will show the corrected information when that address is selected again. Using a shared address at checkout does not add it to your personal address list or save it locally – the address remains shared.
