How does Auto Checkout work?

Auto Checkout is a feature designed for customers who regularly purchase from your store. Once enabled, it ensures that incomplete orders are submitted automatically at a specified daily cut-off time, using the customer’s saved payment and delivery preferences. This is particularly useful for users who may not always be available to complete checkout manually.

Configuration Settings

To enable Auto Checkout, the following must be in place:

1. Enable Auto Checkout

  • Toggle the setting on to activate the feature.

Please note: At least one payment method with Wallet Access enabled is required before Auto Checkout can be turned on.

2. Cut-off Time

  • Define the time of day when automatic checkouts will run.

  • Set using 24-hour format (e.g. 17:00 = 5:00 PM).

3. Days of Operation

  • Select the days of the week when Auto Checkout should be active.

  • Customers' orders will only be processed on the selected days.

Email Notifications

Customers will receive a “Before Checkout” notification email ahead of their order being automatically processed.

  • Delay Setting: Choose how far in advance the email is sent (e.g. 30 minutes before checkout).

  • Email Contents: Before the daily deadline, we will send an email alert to customers. This email will also contain a convenient opt-out link should they decide to cancel or delay their order.

How It Works for Customers

Auto Checkout is ideal for customers who place frequent orders. It ensures that their orders are submitted before the daily cut-off time, even if they're not available to complete the checkout themselves.

  1. Starting an Order: When your customer adds their first item to the basket on your online store, a new order is created automatically. They can view this in the Quotes tab under My Account.

  2. Activating Auto Checkout: From your Account Settings, they can enable Auto Checkout. This allows any open Quotes to be checked out automatically at the set daily cut-off time. They can:

    • Turn Auto Checkout off at any time.

    • Opt out for specific Quotes if needed.

  3. Order Processing at Cut-off Time: At the cut-off time, any Quotes eligible for Auto Checkout will be finalised using:

    • Your customer's default delivery option

    • Your customer's  default payment method, which can be set up in the Wallet section of My Account

  4. Email Notification Before Checkout: Your customer will receive an email notification shortly before their order is due to be checked out. This includes a one-click opt-out link if they'd like to cancel or delay the order.

  5. In Case of Issues: If your customer's order cannot be processed at the cut-off time due to a delivery or payment issue, they will be notified. The order will remain in your customer's  Quotes so they can review and complete it manually.

Important Notes

  • Ensure customers keep their Wallet and Delivery Details up to date to avoid failed checkouts.

  • The cut-off time applies only on selected active days.

  • If Auto Checkout is off, all orders must be submitted manually by the customer.
